Default Darth Visor(Steve Spurrier) Appreciation Thread (or Hate Thread)

Give it up for the ol' Ball Coach.
Taking Duke and Florida out of the ashes.
Now taking South Carolina to a SEC title.

Yeah his 149-45-2 Record is pretty amazing(78%).
So for every game he loses, he wins three.
Took Duke, DUKE!!, to a freaking ACC championship
and killed it with Florida.

Florida stats(in 12 years):
1 National Championship
7 SEC Titles
Finished in the top 10: 9 times
Finished in the top 5: 6 times
1 Heisman Trophy Winner
5 SEC Players of the Year
and
81 All-Americans
Damn!!!

Let's just forget about his little NFL stint. I'm sure he sold lots of tickets, but lets' forget about his record for that time.

I can't believe he went to a bowl game in his first year at South Carolina.
And he beat FLORIDA 30-22 @ Florida. WHAT!!!

Happy Visor:

I don't think this next year will be a good to him as last year.

Darth Visor is sick, but he ain't doing a damn thing this year.
South Carolina projected results: 4-8 including getting smoked by Florida by atleast 28(Tebow killing 'em).

Some staggering stats though:
# Compiled a 122-27-1 record at Florida from 1990-2001, the most wins for a Gator coach in school history and a win percentage (.817) that ranked among the top three in SEC history.

# Coached Florida to two National Championship Game appearances (1995 and 1996), claiming the 1996 national title.

# His 122 victories at Florida from 1990-2001 ranked as the best win total for a coach in his first 12 years at a school in major college history.

# The only coach in SEC history, and one of only two coaches in major college history, to lead a squad to six straight seasons of 10 or more wins (1993-1998).

# The only coach in SEC history, and one of only three coaches in major college history, to lead a school to 12 consecutive seasons (1990-2001) of nine or more wins.

# He achieved 100 career victories at Florida in a faster time period (10th season, eighth game) than any major college coach at a school in the 20th century.

# One of only five major college coaches in history and only the second in SEC history, to lead a school to 100 wins during a decade (102-22-1 at UF from 1990-99).

# One of only three coaches in major college history, and the only one in SEC history, to lead a school to an appearance in the weekly polls for a period of 200 consecutive

I heard a funny story about why he started wearing visors at Florida.
He used to wear bucket hats(like the kind that fisherman wear) during his first spring practice with the Gators. He wore it to protect himself from the sun. But he noticed that it got really hot under the bucket. So he would cut it off himself. His assistant coaches noticed their head coach walking around like an idiot with his self made bucket visor. So the coaches went and got him a visor. And Darth Visor was born.
I can't even picture him without a visor.
I golf with I visor because of him.

Damn! Spurrier is at a 78% winninger percentage???

I think he would make a great reality show. Bob Knight's reality show is pretty good, but I think Spurrier would be even better. He seems more charasmatic and personable, but at the same time he would still be an asshole to the freshman.

Spurrier is going to win the SEC east this year...for sure!!!

Well he gets Auburn, Georgia and Tennesse at home. But has to go on the road to Florida and Clemson. Add in a few cupcakes: Florida Atlantic, Middle Tennesse State and Wolford(who the fuck is that?) and the ol' ball coach could coach em up to another bowl game.

Yup, here comes Darth Visors downfall. Sure he beat Miss State in week 1 and his defense looked amazing, but when playing real talent like Georgia, his D still looked pretty good(3 picks) but his offense sputtered(had 5 fumbles, recovered three).
Expect another loss to Auburn, Tennesse, Florida and Clemson.
But Spurrier will probably still make a bowl appearance with a couple cupcake out of conference games: Wofford, Florida Atlantic, Middle Tennessee State
