Sportscapper Saturday College Football Sportscapper College Football for Saturday – South Carolina +2 I may add another one Saturday morning. I realize this is a big revenge game for Alabama as the Tide, minus injured QB Brodie Coyle, lost 20-3 as a two-point home chalk in last year's battle. BUT - I just don't understand the price of this contest. The wrong side is favored in this contest!
Let me ask you this: When was the last time the Tide won a BIG ROAD GAME under Mike Shula? Are you kidding me? And, this is a club that's 1-6 ATS in its last six road openers. You think it's going to be easier going into Columbia for the first-ever SEC home game of the Spurrier era?
Big deal, Alabama is 2-0. The Tide beat Middle Tennessee State 26-7 (isn't that what an SEC team is supposed to do against a Sun Belt foe?) and Southern Miss 30-21. Now, take a look at that Southern Miss score from last Saturday. Not only did Bama fail to cover the 13 1/2 point number, but the club found itself trailing 21-10 late in the first half after blowing an early 10-0 lead. And, remember, the Golden Eagles were playing their first game of the season - on the road no less. Talk about a deceiving final.
As for SC, quarterback Blake Mitchell has completed 70% of his passes for 4 TDs and an average of 283 yards a game in two outings. He's back home after facing a tough GA defense and I think he'll find the pickings a little easier against the Tide.
Forget about the revenge factor here. South Carolina gets the outright as the home dog. Sportscapper College Football for Saturday – South Carolina +2 |
