Missing out on the playoffs again is not what the Buffalo Bills had in mind entering this season after coming off a 9-7 campaign in 2004. After blowing a 20-point fourth quarter lead against Miami, that is exactly what the Bills are facing.

Changes are coming in Buffalo and it may start near the top with team president Tom Donahoe. His job has come into question by owner Ralph Wilson who is not happy with the underachieving Bills this season.

The Bills are 4-8 and technically alive in the playoff race, but in reality they are done. This will be the fifth straight season the team has missed the playoffs under Donahoe. This is definitely not something Bill’s fans are used to. During the 1990’s the Bills were 102-58, but since Donahoe took over in 2001 the Bills are the fourth worst team in the NFL, not including Houston.

There were high hopes in Buffalo this season with a veteran defense, a highly touted quarterback in Losman and McGahee running the ball. The problems have been many starting with Losman. This past week’s collapse against Miami has most of the players shaking their heads. "Yeah, it was a long night, still thinking, `Wow, what exactly took place yesterday?'" linebacker London Fletcher said. "For the game to go like it went, it still hasn't truly set in."

Another problem for the Bills is that they have yet to hire a good head coach under Donahoe. Gregg Williams went 17-31 in his three years and Mike Mularkey has done nothing to inspire confidence in his two seasons.

It could be time to totally clean house in Buffalo with Donahoe and Mularkey leading the way out the door.
