The Kansas City Chiefs and New York Giants do battle on Saturday in a key game for both teams. Both clubs have potent offenses and weak defenses, so scoring should be plentiful.

The Giants come into the game very banged up as, Antonio Pierce and William Joseph are both expected to miss the game and Luke Petitgout and Kareem McKenzie left the last game with injuries, but should play. Losing defensive players is not a good thing with the high powered Chiefs and their power running game coming into town.

"When you've got a team that's capable of running the ball the way Kansas City does, you want to come in full speed," safety Brent Alexander said. "But we've got a lot of guys around here who are going to play hard and expect a high level of success."

Chiefs running back Larry Johnson, who has run for 100 yards in a team-record six straight games, should find room to run Satuday. Since a 14-3 loss at Buffalo on Nov. 13 that dropped the Chiefs to 5-4, Kansas City has averaged 33 points per game. The offensive surge has been due in large part to the return of 10-time Pro Bowl tackle Willie Roaf from a hamstring injury and the return to form of the rest of the offensive line.

"This team has always leaned on the run, even though we've ranked fairly high from a passing standpoint," quarterback Trent Greenr said. "We have an offensive line with two 10-time Pro Bowlers and Brian Waters was in the Pro Bowl last year. They've established themselves as a run-dominant team and a red-zone team that's produced a lot of touchdowns, whether it be with Priest Holmes or Larry Johnson. If that's where the game plan takes us, then everybody's comfortable with that."

Chiefs defensive end Eric Hicks knows that even facing backups at some positions is not easy. "It would be a more favorable matchup without the starters, but we'll see what goes on," he said. "You can never be overconfident in the NFL. Those guys are on the team for a reason. Hopefully, we can take advantage of it."
