NFL Betting Pick - Dallas @ New Orleans Dallas (1-0 SU and ATS) vs. New Orleans (1-0 SU and ATS) at Shreveport, La.
Reggie Bush and Drew Brees play for the first time in front of Saints fans when New Orleans battles the Cowboys in Shreveport, La.
Bush rushed six times for 59 yards and caught two passes for 10 yards in last week’s 19-16 victory at Tennessee as a two-point underdog, while Brees completed 5 of 9 passes for 60 yards in limited action.
Brees and the rest of the Saints’ starters are scheduled to play the first half against Dallas. Todd Bouman, who is battling with Jamie Martin for the backup quarterback job, will play the majority of the second half, with Jason Fife mopping up late. Martin is slated to sit this one out.
The Cowboys dominated the Seahawks last week, finishing with a 336-235 edge in total yards en route to a 13-3 victory as three-point road underdogs. In a strange move, coach Bill Parcells allowed backup quarterback Tony Romo to play the entire game, and Romo shined, going 19-for-25 for 235 yards with a touchdown.
Tonight, Parcells will start top signal caller Drew Bledsoe, who will play at least the first half. Romo will lead the offense for much, if not all, of the second half, possibly keeping Matt Baker and Drew Henson on the sidelines once again.
Controversial Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens, who hasn’t practiced much because of a sore hamstring, will not suit up tonight. Meanwhile, the Saints will be without the services of WR Michael Lewis, punter Mitch Berger and guard Jermane Mayberry.
New Orleans is 1-5 SU and ATS in its last six home exhibition games going back to 2001. On the positive side, the Saints are on a 5-2 ATS run as an underdog in August.
Including last week’s loss at Seattle, Dallas is 4-7 on the road in preseason action (6-5 ATS) since 2001. However, during that stretch, the Cowboys are 7-4 ATS as a chalk. ATS ADVANTAGE: NONE |
