NFL Preseason Pick - Baltimore at Minnesota Baltimore (1-1 SU and ATS) at Minnesota (1-1 SU and ATS)
Off to a tremendous start to his Ravens career, Steve McNair is set to lead Baltimore against the Vikings.
McNair has completed 78.3 percent of his passes for 193 yards through two games, including a 14-for-18 performance for 148 yards in last week’s 20-10 home win over the Eagles. Former starter Kyle Boller (64 percent, 215 yards, 1 TD, 0 INTs) also has had a solid summer.
McNair and the Ravens starters are slated to play a half and possibly longer. Boller will once again replace McNair, with either Brian St. Pierre or Drew Olsen finishing up.
Mike Anderson will start at running back for Baltimore for the final two preseason games, as starter Jamal Lewis sits out with an injury.
Vikings quarterback Brad Johnson and rookie Tavaris Jackson both went 9-for-11 for a combined 151 yards and two touchdowns in last week’s 17-10 victory over the Steelers as a four-point road underdog. Johnson (82.4 percent, 103 yards, 1 TD, 0 INTs) will start against the Ravens and play much of the first half before giving way to Jackson, who will get one series with the first string, then start the third quarter with the second-stringers. Mike McMahon, who has struggled to grasp new coach Brad Childress’ West Coast offense, will be third off the bench.
Minnesota, which went 4-0 at home (3-1 ATS) in the preseason in 2004 and 2005, was upset 16-13 by the Raiders in its first home game this summer. The Vikings are on a 3-6 ATS slide as a chalk in preseason action.
Baltimore is 1-1 SU and ATS on the road and 1-1 SU and ATS as an underdog in each of the last four exhibition campaigns.
These teams met in Week 15 last year in Baltimore, with the Ravens prevailing 30-23 as a 3½-point favorite. ATS ADVANTAGE: NONE |
