Preseason Football - Cincinnati (1-0 SU and ATS) at Buffalo (0-1, 1-0 ATS) Cincinnati (1-0 SU and ATS) at Buffalo (0-1, 1-0 ATS) Recovering Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer will be on the sidelines once again tonight as Cincinnati travels to Buffalo for the second preseason game for both squads. With Palmer sitting out last week’s 19-3 home win over the Redskins, backups Anthony Wright and Doug Johnson combined to go 20-for-30 for 229 yards and two TDs. Wright will get the start against the Bills and play the entire first half, with Johnson starting the second half and rookie Erik Meyer possibly mop up. Both Kelly Holcomb and J.P. Losman, who are battling for the Bills’ starting quarterback job, struggled in last week’s loss at Carolina. Holcomb started and went 2-for-4 for 16 yards, with one of his incompletions being picked off and returned for a touchdown. Losman put up better numbers (15 of 24, 144 yards), but it was all against the Panthers’ backups. Still, it was enough for Bills coach Dick Jauron to move Losman up to No. 1 on the depth chart, and he will start tonight and play most, if not all, of the first half. Holcomb, Craig Nall and Kliff Kingsbury will follow. Since Marvin Lewis took over as coach in 2003, Cincinnati is just 1-5 (2-4 ATS) in preseason road games and 3-5 ATS as an underdog. On the flip side, the Bengals are 3-0 SU and ATS in Week 2 of the preseason during Lewis’ tenure. Buffalo is 4-2 at home in the last three preseasons (4-1-1 ATS). ATS ADVANTAGE: NONE |
