Preseason NFL Pick - Indianapolis @ New Orleans 8-26-06 Indianapolis (0-2 SU and ATS) vs. New Orleans (1-1 SU and ATS) (at Jackson, Miss.)
The Colts, who haven’t won a preseason game since 2004, head south to Jackson, Miss., to face the Saints, who were embarrassed in Monday night’s 30-7 loss to the Cowboys.
Indianapolis is coming off last week’s 30-17 upset loss to the Seahawks as 3½-point home favorites, but got another opening-drive touchdown from the first-team offense. Peyton Manning’s offense has played only four series this preseason and scored a TD on the opening drive in both games.
The Colts’ starters will play into the third quarter against the Saints, with backup QB Shaun King finishing the contest. Second-string QB Jim Sorgi was knocked out of the game against the Seahawks and will not play in this one. Running back James Mungro is out for the season with a knee injury.
The Saints were dominated from the outset in Monday’s 23-point loss to Dallas as 2½-point home underdogs. Starting QB Drew Brees went 7 of 12 for 67 yards and backup Todd Bouman was 13 of 16 for 117 yards.
New Orleans coach Sean Payton said Brees and the starting offense will play well into the third quarter against the Colts, with Bouman finishing the game.
Indianapolis is 0-7 SU and 1-6 ATS in the last two preseasons, while the Saints are just 3-7 SU and 2-8 ATS in home exhibition games since 2001. ATS ADVANTAGE: INDIANAPOLIS |
